Your body needs certain nutrients in order to stay healthy and strong enough to let you live a good life. Bad food makes you unhealthy and good food helps you improve your physical being.
But it’s not just the body that needs attention to stay healthy, so is your mind. If you don’t provide healthy food for your mind, it won’t stay hungry but will try to find food from anywhere it can. In the same way that junk food deteriorates your physical being, junk information is unhealthy for your mind.
Here is a shortlist of what you can do to keep providing healthy nutrients for your mind:
- Read books: Find good books and get into the habit of reading books. It’s irreplaceable with any other good habit.
- Read online: Instead of browsing the internet for fun and just reading whatever comes in front of you, search for specific question you have in mind and read various articles from different reliable sources.
- Befriend with intellectuals: They are usually busy, less social than other people but if you manage to stay in touch with them and get them to talk, they always give you a lot of good information and knowledge that you can hardly get from anywhere else.
- Think and reflect: Get into the habit of being alone all by yourself and thinking deeply and writing down your thoughts. Go for a long walk, stay in your room and get rid of all distractions or even better go for a trip outside the city.
- Write: You don’t have to be a professional writer to write. Write for yourself. Just sit behind your computer (or notebook) and write whatever thoughts that you have. Even better, you can keep a journal and write daily.
