One way of offering your service as a volunteer is to participate in a good cause and offer any help that they might need. This is a good approach if you want space from what you do professionally and seek to have just fun doing something different and have fun while helping around.

Another approach is when you want to use your time in the most effective way. This time instead of waiting to see what they want to use your time for, you take a more proactive approach and see what you can do best and how your contribution can bring maximum impact.

If you see that you are not effective, don’t just stay and waste your time and their time pretending that you are doing something. Walk out or offer to do something else.
