Have you ever found yourself preparing an explanation in your mind even before the other person could finish his conversation? We love to jump into conclusion. It proves to us and (we think) also to others that we are smart and an expert in the matter. We impatiently want to explain, elaborate and give our expert opinion.

The danger to such a habit is that we might get it all wrong. We might have not understood what is that the other person is trying to tell us and we have come to the wrong conclusion. It is important that we listen attentively to the other person and fully understand what he is trying to communicate before we start searching our mind for an answer.

The other issue with not listening attentively is that we close the door for learning through experience. Even as an expert, we are not perfect and still there is a lot that we need to learn. Each case is unique on its own and generalizing all the cases can keep us away to look into each case as a unique scenario.

The more you find yourself puzzled over something, the more you have opened the doors toward personal growth.
