It’s comforting to dream often. When the life gets tough, we get into wishful thinking and see the world the way we want it, we express our high expectations and complain how little has been our share of luck, we look for a shortcut, to seek an easy way to get rid of pains or at least to soothe them for a while.
We do this to escape the reality. Our imagination serves us well. But it also can harm us. By escaping the reality instead of facing it, we may find temporarily comfort of the present time but we enhance the danger of facing bigger problems in the future.
Instead, we need to embrace it. To keep our senses sharp and open to see the word as it is. To face whatever the world brings us and do our best in any situation. Over time we learn to see more of reality as it is and less of wishful thinking and over time we build the mental as well as the physical muscles that will enable us to handle similar difficulties much easier and much more effective.
We can even practice to love the reality. To love how the world is and accept it as it is. Then it is perhaps when the reality also starts rewarding us with its own gifts.
Reality is not bad at all, once we get to know it better and befriend with it.
